How to Network as a Creative
April 21, 2023What does Vector PDF/ EPS and Graphic JPEG/PNG Mean?
What is the difference between a vector logo and a graphic logo? It’s important for a small business owner to know the difference. The most important thing to remember is that your business needs a vector logo.
Let me explain, a vector logo is a group of points on a graph. Due to a vector’s mathematical makeup, each path, line, or curve looks precise at any size. These complex shapes and lines can be produced exclusively in vector-based programs, such as Adobe Illustrator.
A graphic logo are points or pixels per square inch and depending on how many pixels the graphic has determines the size of the image. If you need a big logo, like for the size of building a graphic logo would not work. Graphic logos can only go smaller or it will pixalate causing the jagged razor edges.
If you have a vector logo you can resize it to the correct size logo for websites, Facebook, etc and then save it as a graphic logo. But you should always have the safety net of a vector logo.
If you have a logo already and you don’t know if it’s vector or graphic contact me. I’ll ask you to send me what you have and I’ll consult with you. Creating a vector logo from a graphic can usually be done at a reasonable price.
